Square eyes

Hell's Kitchen finalists Ade Edmundson (Vivian from the Young Ones) and Linda Evans - both made interesting comments - Ade said he would like to take away from the experience to try to be braver and "Linda, Linda, Linda .. where's my crab" .. will go home with Ade withdrawal..

my own opinion they are all pussycats including Marco Pierre

Well done Jenson Button, Rubens and Brawn

League table of European youngsters' well-being

Maybe its about money and the social system, Elterngeld exists in Germany, France and Scandinavia.

A huge incentive in Scandinavian countries is that parents can share being off work during the first year of their new baby's life at around two thirds their annual salary and this continues into the second and third year, although at a lower rate. And when baby number two comes along after the third year, this system starts again

Maybe this is what whoever holds the purse in UK Government could be thinking about to make happier children and maybe other countries in Europe working long hours. Encourage families to be togethor and not so stressed at least when the children are little - think this would be worth paying more tax for

Not surprisingly in Scandinavian countries which are top of this league table, family policies have a downside for women, companies are reluctant to hire or promote women because they take so much time off to raise their children.

Seems we drive on the left hand side in the UK

because knights in the Middle Ages riding on horseback wanted to keep their right hand, usually their sword hand ready ... so they would keep to the left when travelling.

and for same reason many countries under French rule at some time, drive on the right as Napoleon was left handed

Rent a cherry tree

The price of renting a cherry tree is £35. For this, the orchard will look after your tree for you to pick at harvest. All the cherries on ‘your’ tree are yours.

As a guide, the price of cherries in supermarkets can range from £6 - £12 a kilogram. The yield on your tree will vary, but in an optimum year could be as much as 15-20 kilograms.

Old oak tree

near my mum and dad's home, an old oak tree fell down last year and have a slab of the tree to make a table, its taken some time to sand it down but counted the rings today and there are about 130 - guess that means it was a little acorn in ~1878.

Thats when weather data started to be collected, Cleopatras Needle arrived in London, Thomas Edison patented the gramophone, the Edison light company began, some of the first telephone exchanges were installed, the Tokyo Stock exchange was established and Disraeli anticipated war with Russia
